A Year of Musical Success and Personal Growth
As we approach the end of the summer term, I'm pleased to report that my students have had a highly successful year, passing their ABRSM exams with flying colours. My teaching is always guided by my students' preferences, including their interest in taking these exams. I firmly believe that this student-centred approach not only fosters a love for music but also encourages personal growth and confidence.
By integrating coaching and life skills into my music sessions, I help students prepare for various aspects of life beyond just musical performance. This holistic approach has proven to be incredibly beneficial, as students learn time management, goal setting, and stress management techniques that are applicable in many areas of their lives.
Additionally, I am excited to share that I will be training as a Mental Health First Aider in July, thanks to funding from a music support charity. This training will enable me to provide better support for my students and at music events. Understanding the importance of mental health, especially in the context of learning and performing music, is crucial. With this new qualification, I will be better equipped to recognise and respond to mental health issues, ensuring a safe and supportive environment for all my students.
Reflecting on this past year, I'm filled with pride and gratitude for my students' hard work and dedication. It's been a joy to watch them grow not only as musicians but as individuals. Each success story, whether it's passing an exam, mastering a challenging piece, or gaining new confidence, reaffirms the value of our collective efforts.
Looking ahead, I am pleased about the new opportunities and challenges the next term will bring. I am committed to continuing my professional development to provide the best possible support for my students. The skills and knowledge I gain from the Mental Health First Aid training will be a vital addition to my teaching toolkit.
Thank you to the music support charity (https://www.musicsupport.org/) for their generous funding, which makes such advancements possible. Their support enables me to offer a more comprehensive educational experience, blending musical excellence with essential life skills and mental health awareness.
To all my students and their families, thank you for your trust. Together, we are making strides in not only music education but in building a resilient, well-rounded community. Here’s to another year of growth, music, and well-being!
